When you catch a cold, your stomach feels bloated. Does it mean that the wind is in the stomach? How does the wind enter the stomach? Is it because we breathe through our mouths?

Hi Deborah, very interesting question. Abdominal bloating is a sensation that a person feels in his stomach, such as feeling full and uncomfortable. Often the symptoms of flatulence are accompanied by the stomach feels bigger and feels more burping or farting. In this article, I will try to explain to you, my readers, exactly why flatulence can occur.

Our stomachs can contain gas and air because first, indeed, every time we open our mouths to eat and drink air is swallowed into our digestive tract. If we pay attention, air from outside can enter the stomach through the mouth, throat, and finally enter the stomach. After that, the air continues its journey into the small and large intestines, and eventually exits the anal canal as a fart. Every day, it is normal for us to fart whether we realize it or not. So, it's normal for air to enter and leave our bodies, brothers and sisters. ️

In addition, our stomachs can feel bloated due to the things we consume, such as chewing gum, smoking, fatty and spicy foods, nuts, cabbage, artificially sweetened foods, and fizzy drinks. Some other habits related to the way we eat, such as eating too fast, eating too much, talking a lot while eating can also make our stomach bloated.

Well, actually flatulence can be a symptom of a disease in our body, such as stomach pain (ulcer), lack of body digestive enzymes (pancreatic disorders or lactose intolerance), irritation and infection of the intestines (symptoms accompanied by diarrhea). However, you don't need to worry, you can consult a doctor if your flatulence is very bothersome and accompanied by other symptoms (continuous abdominal pain, red/black stools, high fever, vomiting). The doctor will prescribe drugs according to the cause of the complaint.

Some things that prevent flatulence, you can do at home, for example when eating and drinking slowly and not in a hurry, avoiding foods and drinks that trigger flatulence, reducing chewing gum and not smoking, exercising regularly, and taking stomach medicine. if the stomachache starts to feel.

That's a brief explanation from my sister about flatulence. Hopefully it can help all of you to be one step more understanding of the health of our bodies. See you in the next question!
